Sicily, the gorgeous largest Mediterranean island also known as the birthplace of the Mafia, the Godfather and La dolce vita.

It was middle of May, I'd finally meet my brother and my father halfway in Europe. We booked a trip to Sicily, rented a car and apartment in Catania. That was not my first time there but I was up to explore further…the plan was to visit one city to visit per day and come back by night.

The route I am about to share I got from locals, so these might contain places you haven't heard before.

Giorno 1–2 Catania

Catania is an ancient port city on Sicily’s east coast, also noisy, chaotic, and a bit dirty according to visitors.

This is where we were based for the rest of our trip. Catania has an old town, lot of shops, bakeries, restaurants and so. The hidden gem for me in this city was the path for runners along the coast, I was going every end of afternoon afterour day trips.

Hot spot: Try the "granita con brioche" at Pasticceria Savia one of the oldest bakeries in town.

Giorno 3 — Mount Etna
