This is just a story about a stopover. A heated stopover. A luxurious one.

The story

I realized I can’t hear the name of a place I don’t know anything about, without thinking “Oh! I wanna go there and see for myself”. That’s how I ended up going to Doha, Qatar when going from Stockholm<>Bali.

Dark Tourist comments:

  • It’s hot, f***** hot in the Summer!
  • Being a woman in a Muslim country in such a hot temperature is nuts! Did I say it’s super hot?
  • One day per year there’s a holy festival where most everything including hotels close. It’s called the Festival of Sacrifice — the day I was there.
  • As a Muslim country prayer rooms and some areas are separated for men and women.
  • Couples make sure to respect the law in public.
  • Other than the skyscrapers, every building has a pastel tone.
  • It’s a not-made-for-pedestrians city
  • Uber is a go-go!
  • Public toilets are really fancy
  • There’re Camel tracks I just couldn’t see it — and I couldn’t spot any Camel
  • Besides the fancy hotel restaurants, there are many great food options, mostly…
